Abstract: With technological advancements, weapon system development has become increasingly complex and costly. Using modeling and simulation (M&S) technology in the conceptual design stage is effective in reducing the development time and cost of weapons. One way to reduce the complexity and trial-and-error associated with weapon development using M&S technology is to develop s to review the functions assigned to new weapons. Although the M&S technology is applicable, it is difficult to analyze how effectively the weapons are functioning, because of the dynamic features inherent in modeling, which considers interrelations among different weapon entities. To support review of weapon functions including these characteristics, this study develops a method to model the interactions between weapons in the . This method includes the following three steps: (1) construct virtual models by converting the weapons and the weapon functions into their corresponding components; (2) generate the combat process from the , which is derived from the interrelations among weapons under consideration using reasoning rules; (3) develop a process-based model that describes weapon functions by combining the combat process with virtual models. Then, a PBM system based on this method is implemented. The case study executed on this system shows that it is useful in deriving process-based models from various s, analyzing weapon functions using the derived models, and reducing weapon development issues in the conceptual design stage.

Quantum security analysis of a lattice-basedoblivious transfer protocol Article

Mo-meng LIU, Juliane KRÄMER, Yu-pu HU, Johannes BUCHMANN

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 9,   Pages 1348-1369 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1700039

Abstract: Because of the concise functionality of oblivious transfer (OT)protocols, they have been widely used as building blocks in securemultiparty computation and high-level protocols. The security of OTprotocols built upon classical number theoretic problems, such asthe discrete logarithm and factoring, however, is threatened as aresult of the huge progress in quantum computing. Therefore, post-quantumcryptography is needed for protocols based on classical problems, and several proposals for post-quantum OT protocols exist. However, most post-quantum cryptosystems present their security proof onlyin the context of classical adversaries, not in the quantum setting. In this paper, we close this gap and prove the security of the lattice-basedOT protocol proposed by Peikert . (CRYPTO, 2008), which is universally composably secure under theassumption of learning with errors hardness, in the quantum setting. We apply three general quantum security analysis frameworks. First,we apply the quantum lifting theorem proposed by Unruh (EUROCRYPT,2010) to prove that the security of the lattice-based OT protocolcan be lifted into the quantum world. Then, we apply two more securityanalysis frameworks specified for post-quantum cryptographic primitives,i.e., simple hybrid arguments (CRYPTO, 2011) and game-preserving reduction(PQCrypto, 2014).

An overview and recent advances in electrocatalysts for direct seawater splitting

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2021, Volume 15, Issue 6,   Pages 1408-1426 doi: 10.1007/s11705-021-2102-6

Abstract: In comparison to pure water, seawater is widely accepted as an unlimited resource. The direct seawater splitting is economical and eco-friendly, but the key challenges in seawater, especially the chlorine-related competing reactions at the anode, seriously hamper its practical application. The development of earth-abundant electrocatalysts toward direct seawater splitting has emerged as a promising strategy. Highly efficient electrocatalysts with improved selectivity and stability are of significance in preventing the interference of side reactions and resisting various impurities. This review first discusses the macroscopic understanding of direct seawater electrolysis and then focuses on the strategies for rational design of electrocatalysts toward direct seawater splitting. The perspectives of improved electrocatalysts to solve emerging challenges and further development of direct seawater splitting are also provided.
